Where our information comes from

Canadian tax rules have a single authoritative source: the Canada Revenue Agency and the relevant federal or provincial legislation. Our guides are written from those primary sources — canada.ca, CRA guides and forms, and provincial government publications such as gov.bc.ca — rather than from other firms’ blog posts.

Every guide on this site carries a Sources section listing the primary references behind it, so you can check any claim yourself rather than taking ours on faith.

How we handle numbers

Rates, thresholds and dollar limits change — often annually, sometimes mid-year. We try to keep hard figures to a minimum and explain the underlying rule instead, because the rule usually outlasts the number.

Where we do state a figure, we name the tax year it applies to. If a figure on this site is time-sensitive or we are still confirming it against updated CRA tables, we say so on the page rather than presenting it as settled. We would rather flag an uncertainty than have you rely on a stale number.

How often we update

Each guide shows the month it was last updated. We revisit tax content when the underlying rules change — typically after a federal budget, at the start of a new tax year, or when the CRA revises a published guide or form. Pages that are materially out of date are corrected or removed rather than left up.

What we don’t do

• We do not accept payment, affiliate commission or sponsorship in exchange for coverage or placement. Nothing on this site is advertising dressed as a guide.
• We do not publish testimonials, ratings or client outcomes we cannot substantiate. Our Google rating is shown as it stands, not curated.
• We do not publish comparisons that rank other accounting firms.
