Canadian Tax Deadlines for 2026
Every CRA deadline a small-business owner needs — corporate tax, personal tax, GST/HST, payroll and slips — in one plain-English calendar. Bookmark it, or let us track them all for you.
The deadline that costs money is usually the payment deadline, not the filing one. A T2 corporate return is filed 6 months after year-end, but the balance owing is due within 3 months for most small corporations. Personal tax is due April 30 (June 15 to file if self-employed, but pay by April 30). GST/HST, payroll and slips each have their own dates — all below.
Corporate tax (T2)
Your fiscal year-end sets your dates — most owners get the two mixed up.
| Deadline | When |
|---|---|
| Balance owing | 3 months after fiscal year-end (CCPC claiming the small-business deduction); 2 months otherwise. Interest starts the day after. |
| T2 return filing | 6 months after fiscal year-end. Late filing brings penalties on top of interest. |
| Corporate instalments | Monthly or quarterly through the year if your prior tax exceeded the threshold. |
Personal tax (T1)
| Deadline | When |
|---|---|
| Filing (most people) | April 30, 2026. |
| Filing (self-employed) | June 15, 2026 — but any balance owing is still due April 30. |
| Balance owing | April 30, 2026 (for everyone, including the self-employed). |
| RRSP contribution | March 2, 2026 (first 60 days) to count for the 2025 tax year. |
| Personal instalments | March 15, June 15, September 15, December 15. |
GST/HST
Frequency depends on your revenue and what you elected.
| Deadline | When |
|---|---|
| Annual filer (Dec 31 year-end) | File by June 15; balance owing due April 30. |
| Annual filer (other year-end) | File and pay 3 months after your fiscal year-end. |
| Quarterly filer | 1 month after the end of each quarter. |
| Monthly filer | 1 month after the end of each month. |
Payroll & information slips
| Deadline | When |
|---|---|
| Source deductions (regular remitter) | 15th of the month after you pay employees. |
| T4 / T5 slips | Filed with the CRA and given to recipients by the last day of February (March 2, 2026). |
| T5018 (construction subcontractors) | 6 months after your reporting-period end. |
Dates reflect 2026 CRA deadlines; where a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday the CRA generally accepts the next business day. This is general information, not advice specific to your situation — we confirm your exact dates as part of your engagement.
