Virtual CPA for Canadian Small Businesses & Contractors

EverStone CPA is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant firm that works with incorporated small businesses, contractors and consultants across the country — corporate tax, bookkeeping and advice, delivered entirely online at fixed, up-front fees.

In short

A virtual CPA is a Chartered Professional Accountant who handles your corporate tax, bookkeeping, GST/HST and personal tax entirely online — no office visit needed. Because T2, T1 and GST/HST filings are federal, a Canadian CPA can legally look after a business in any province. EverStone serves incorporated owners Canada-wide with one named CPA on your file, fixed fees quoted before any work starts.

How it works

Your accountant can be anywhere — and that’s a good thing

Corporate tax (T2), personal tax (T1), GST/HST and CRA filings are federal — identical whether your business is in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto or St. John’s. That means a Canadian CPA can look after your business no matter where you’re based, and provincial pieces like HST, PST or RST are simply part of the job.

We handle the books, tax and filings, and we meet by video or phone whenever you want to talk. Most owners find it faster and easier than a traditional office, and you get the same dedicated CPA all year, not a rotating call centre.

Who we work with

  • Online & e-commerce businesses
  • Owner-managed small companies
  • Self-employed & sole proprietors
  • Anyone tired of chasing their accountant
The basics

What a virtual CPA actually does

A virtual CPA does everything a traditional accountant does — prepares and files your taxes, keeps your books, and advises you on your business — but works with you remotely instead of from a downtown office. You approve and sign electronically, and meet by video or phone when you want to talk something through. Nothing about the quality of the work changes; what changes is the friction, the cost, and how quickly you can reach the person who actually knows your file.

For an incorporated Canadian business, a full-service virtual CPA typically looks after:

  • Your T2 corporate tax return and year-end financial statements
  • GST/HST and provincial sales-tax registration and filing
  • Monthly or annual bookkeeping and payroll
  • Your personal T1 return, coordinated with the corporation
  • Salary-vs-dividend planning so you pay yourself tax-efficiently
  • CRA correspondence and audit support when it is needed

Getting started

How working with a remote CPA actually goes

Switching is easier than most owners expect — here is the whole process, start to finish.

  1. Free 30-minute consultWe learn your business, your structure and what is (or is not) working with your current setup — then give you a clear, fixed quote before you commit to anything.
  2. Secure onboardingWe collect what we need to get started — prior returns, CRA access, and your bookkeeping.
  3. We do the workWe prepare your books, returns and filings, and reach out proactively when something needs a decision — not once a year, but whenever it matters.
  4. You review & e-signWe walk you through everything by video or phone, you approve it, and you sign electronically. No printing, no mailing, no office visit.
  5. We file with the CRAWe e-file directly with the CRA and confirm it landed — then keep supporting you year-round as your business changes.
Every province

Provincial tax, handled — wherever you operate

The federal return is the same everywhere; the provincial layer is not. We file the right sales tax and apply the right corporate rate for your province — here is the 2026 picture at a glance.

Common questions

Virtual CPA FAQ

Can a BC-based CPA really do my taxes in another province?+
Yes. Corporate tax (T2), personal tax (T1), GST/HST and CRA filings are federal, so a Canadian CPA can prepare and file them for a business in any province. Provincial items — Ontario HST, BC PST, Manitoba RST, provincial corporate rates and payroll taxes — are simply part of the work, and we handle them for the province you operate in.
How do we exchange documents and sign things?+
We prepare your books and returns, and you approve and sign electronically. We meet by video or phone whenever you want to talk something through — no printing, mailing or in-person visits required.
Will I always deal with the same person?+
Yes. You work directly with the CPA who owns your file, all year round — not a rotating team or a seasonal call centre. That continuity is a big part of why clients switch to us and stay.
What does it cost?+
Fixed fees, quoted up front after a free consultation. A standalone T2 corporate return starts at $800 — or from $1,200 with year-end financial statements. Bookkeeping starts at $300/month and personal tax from $100. See our pricing page for full details.
Is a virtual CPA as good as having a local accountant?+
For an incorporated business, yes — and often better. Your tax filings are federal, so location adds nothing to the quality of the work. What you gain remotely is a dedicated CPA who replies quickly, proactive advice year-round, and fixed fees instead of a meter running in a downtown office. What you lose is the drive across town.
How does CRA e-filing work when everything is remote?+
We are registered to e-file directly with the CRA. Once you review and electronically sign your return, we transmit it to the CRA and confirm it was accepted — the same process a local firm uses, just without you having to come in to sign paper.
What accounting software do you use?+
We work with the major cloud platforms — QuickBooks Online and Xero. If you already use one, we can usually work in it; if you are starting fresh, we set you up on the option that fits your business.
How do you handle my province’s PST, HST or RST?+
That is simply part of the job. We register you where required and file the correct regime for your province — combined HST in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, GST plus a separate PST in BC and Saskatchewan, GST plus RST in Manitoba, or GST-only in Alberta and the territories.
How hard is it to switch from my current accountant?+
Easy — we handle the handover. With your permission we request your prior-year files and CRA access, and we take it from there. Most owners are fully switched within a couple of weeks and never have to have an awkward conversation with their old firm.
Fixed feesClear, fixed pricing — you approve the fee before any work begins. No surprise bills.
One dayWe reply to every enquiry within one business day — usually the same day.
CPA-ledEvery file is handled personally by a CPA — never passed to junior staff.
No obligationYour first consultation is free, with zero pressure and no obligation.
